At the close of the 2020 calendar year, Twin Vee PowerCats announced they company would be launching Twin Vee Electric, a division of the company focused on designing and developing boats that combine the "unrivaled ride experience that the Twin Vee catamaran is known for with a fully electric propulsion system". At the time, Joseph C. Visconti, President of Twin Vee Powercats, Inc. stated "we’ve assembled a great team that has been hard at work developing this giant innovative leap forward for Twin Vee."

Now we have seen some first early images of the new 2022 Twin Vee PowerCat 240 CC Electric power catamaran on the builder's website - and it looks very promising! This fully-electric center console catamaran boat is intended to be a solid day cruiser. She marks an early prototype for the company in the new line, creating a version of the builder's popular 24-foot center console power catamaran that is typically powered with twin 150hp outboard motors.

The 240 CC Electric was designed and built for mass appeal and caters to a growing demand for sustainable, environmentally-friendly electric and alternative fuel commercial and recreational vehicles. The Company plans to build off the intended success of its first electric model. Additional models will be designed and added to the Company’s model mix and marketed and sold through Twin Vee’s existing network of dealers.

Electra Power Sports: Electric Propulsion Systems For The Masses


Beyond building their own proprietary electric-powered boats, the company has also introduced a new division of its business called Electra Power Sports that is building electric propulsion systems - i.e. electric outboard motors - that will be available for other manufacturers use, in addition to being offered on Twin Vee models.

These motors will be available to a wide variety of boat builders, boat dealers and boat owners seeking to power or re-power their boats with a fully electric outboard propulsion system as an alternative to gas-burning engines. The Company has hired several mechanical, electrical and battery engineers to design clean energy, alternative fuel propulsion system for boats requiring an outboard solution for propulsion.

100% Electric means clean on-water adventures that allow owners to experience the power of sustainable boating. The first product for Electra Power Sports is the Electra 215HP Outboard Motor, marketed as the Electra Power Sports 215HP. The motor is designed with nano-composite thermoplastic material and is 90% the strength of aluminum but with only 50% the weight of aluminum. It features Interchangeable lower units with either jet propulsion or a propeller. The max power is 215HP. Other specs are: Torque: 500 FT/LBS; Continuous Power: 125 HP; Voltage 400 V; Efficiency – 95%; Weight 350 lbs; Lithium Battery – 50 kWH (expandable to 400 kWH); AC: 10 Hours; onboard charger at 240 V/50A DC; 4 Hour on 25 kW electric vehicle charger; Supercharge: 1.5 hours at 80kW;

Other Technologies from Electra Power Sports will include a full suite of gauges, sensors, and computer-controlled features in one package: making your boating experience easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Electra Drag Reduction Optimization (EDRO). Sensors are being designed to adjust the trim while optimizing speed control for the best possible efficiency at cruising speed.
